Iran executed a man on Wednesday after convicting him of killing seven people, including a 10-year-old boy, during nationwide protests in 2022.

Axar.az informs Abbas Kurkuri, who had been sentenced to death for "moharebeh" (waging war against God) by brandishing a weapon with intent to kill and terrorize the public, "corruption on earth" through committing crimes by using military firearms, and for forming and joining an armed rebel group, has been executed by hanging.

Hundreds of people, including members of the security forces, were killed during the 2022 protests that erupted after the death in custody of Mahsa Amini—an Iranian Kurd detained for allegedly violating Iran’s strict dress code for women. Thousands of others were arrested.
