Russia remains committed to its stance on the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated.

Axar.az reports “Russia’s position is that we are against the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction by any country in the world, including Iran,” the Russian leader said in an interview with Sky News Arabia.

"Iran has repeatedly stated that it does not seek to develop nuclear weapons. The IAEA also has no signs or evidence of nuclear weapons development," added the Russian leader.

According to him Iran has the right to pursue nuclear technology programs for peaceful purposes and Russia is ready to provide Iran with the necessary assistance and support in developing peaceful nuclear energy, "as it has in previous years."
