On June 25, Serbia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs announced the arrest of six individuals suspected of plotting a violent overthrow of the government.

Axar.az reports, citing local media, according to the police statement, the suspects allegedly met on June 21 at a hotel in Kraljevo to plan the operation. Their plans reportedly included attacks on government officials, physical assaults on police officers to disarm them, and forceful break-ins into government buildings and other state institutions.

Authorities also say the group planned to storm media outlets, including Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) and the pro-government networks Happy and Informer, threatening to use firearms.

During the investigation, police discovered a pistol with a magazine containing seven bullets and an additional box of 25 rounds of matching ammunition in the possession of one suspect. A crossbow was found with another.

The suspects are expected to appear before the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade for questioning within 48 hours.

Meanwhile, police searches are ongoing at multiple locations across Serbia.
