West Ham defender Arthur Masuaku apologized on Sunday after being sent off for spitting at an opponent during an FA Cup loss at Wigan.
Axar.az reports citing DS.
Masuaku was shown a straight red card for his action towards Nick Powell on Saturday.
The Hammers were trailing 1-0 at the time and went on to fall 2-0 to the League One side.
"I want to say sorry for my actions on Saturday," Masuaku said in a statement on the club's website.
"I let down my team-mates, the manager, coaches, board and the fans.
"I am very sad because the manager and coaches have put a lot of faith in me but I will work very hard to try and win that back.
"It was in the heat of the moment and out of character for me. I know it was totally unacceptable and I will learn from the first red card of my career."
West Ham manager David Moyes was irate after the game, calling the French defender action "despicable."
"He will deserve everything he gets and he will get something from us as well," he told reporters.
"It's unacceptable, totally unacceptable."
