A radio DJ who headbutted a student and raped her twice in a terrifying attack nearly two decades ago has been sacked after his bosses discovered his sickening past conviction.

Axar.az reports citing Mirror that, Wayne Dolan was locked up for 10 years in 1999 after being convicted of raping the 20-year-old Edinburgh University student, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

Aged 18 at the time, a court heard how he headbutted the young woman in the Scottish capital before raping her twice, the Daily Record reports.

He was caught after his traumatised victim recognised the smell of his deodorant.

Dolan, now 37, was working for the station, We Are One Digital, under the name DJ Activ8 when his bosses found out he is a convicted rapist.

It is understood a member of the public who was aware of Dolan’s past contacted the station - which specialises in hardcore dance music - to alert them.

Yesterday, they announced Dolan, from Glenrothes, Fife, was being ditched in a public Facebook post.

Their statement said: “We hope people can appreciate that when a DJ plays for us on our radio, it’s completely voluntary so the only checks carried out are to see if he/she would be a good fit and good at mixing.

“We are sorry if our appointment of this DJ made anyone feel uncomfortable but we had no idea and have rectified the issue.”

A woman who answered the door at Dolan’s home yesterday said he was unavailable for comment.
