Iranian arrested for drug smuggling in Armenia

An Iranian citizen has been detained for attempting to send nearly 230 grams of opium from Armenia to Australia.

Axar.az reports that the State Revenue Committee of Armenia released this information.

According to the committee, operatives from the Anti-Smuggling Department, together with National Security Service agents, discovered a dark brown substance resembling opium during an inspection of a parcel at the post office in the city of Qafan.

A criminal case has been opened, and the Iranian suspect is being held on charges of drug smuggling.
