Police chief shot dead in Turkey, two bodyguards wounded

The head of Rize City Police Department, Altug Verdi, was shot dead by a police officer, Turkey's Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu ​said.

Axar.az informs citing the Huriyyet that, according to him, two bodyguards of the chief were wounded as a result of the fire launched by the police officer.

The minister said police officers are questioned on the fact. The reason of the incident is investigated.

The police officer who is suspected of the attack has been detained.
