Both real and financial sectors are tending to revive after the three-year difficult period, Executive Director at Azerbaijan Banks Association (ABA) Yunus Abdulov said at the event on ‘New opportunities for financing and development of business’ held by the Astana International Financial Center in Baku.
Axar.az informs citing Report that "in the nine months of 2018, the bank assets in Azerbaijan rose by 4.6% to AZN 29.2 billion, including loan portfolio by 5% to AZN 11.9 billion, capitalization level by 11% to AZN 4.1 billion. Personal savings grew by 8.4%, savings reached AZN 8.2 billion. As of October 1, 2018, 63% or more than AZN 7.7 billion of the loan portfolio was directed to financing of business," he said.
According to Abdulov, AZN 14.3 billion has been invested in the banking sector since 2000: "In the first ten months of 2018, nearly AZN 1.5 billion was invested in Azerbaijan’s economy through bank loans, which makes up 13% of capital investments from domestic sources."
