Turkey proposed to unite TANAP and Turkish Stream

Turkey’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu proposed uniting Russia’s Turkish Stream with Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) which is supposed to deliver gas from Azerbaijani, Iraq and potentially, Turkmenistan to Europe by 2020.

According to the Minister, Ankara is going to buy only 16 bln. cubic meters of Russian gas coming via Turkish Stream annually. The rest of Russian gas can be delivered via TANAP by uniting it with Turkish Stream.

“TANAP is a priority project for Turkey”, said Çavuşoğlu.

TANAP is estimated to cost 9,2 bln. USD. Azerbaijani gas from Shah Deniz is going to be delivered to Turkey via Georgian territory. It is plan to start delivery to Turkey by 2018 and after finishing the construction of Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), roughly by 2020, gas will reach Europe.
