Holding the Non-Aligned Movement in Azerbaijan and delegating its chairmanship to Baku is an important success.

The Turkish political scientist and expert Engin Özer told Axar.az in his commentary on the 18th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in Baku.

According to the expert, this summit will play an exceptional role in bringing the Karabakh conflict to the world agenda:

“As Ilham Aliyev underlined, Azerbaijan's geopolitical position and vision coincide with the political direction of the Non-Aligned Movement. The importance and influence of Azerbaijan in the region are also increasing day by day. It is important to keep in mind that the Non-Aligned Movement's strength and the number of its members are increasing. There are hundreds of countries that do not want to join NATO, the Collective Security Treaty Organization. The Non-Aligned Movement is turning into a bloc of these countries.

Today the largest Non-Aligned Movement in the world after the UN is the Non-Aligned Movement. The proper organization and conduct of the Summit of such a large organization by Azerbaijan should be considered a great success of Baku's foreign policy.

The expert said that until yesterday Azerbaijan was a country that was trying to maintain its position more and now it is becoming a country that has a say in foreign policy:

“We see a significant strengthening of Azerbaijan's position in the South Caucasus. This will help Azerbaijan to bring the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict to the agenda. At the next stage, Azerbaijan will be able to put more pressure on official Yerevan by establishing diplomatic relations, and the Karabakh conflict will be more actively communicated to the world community. A very wonderful phase for Azerbaijan begins. ”
