The peace achieved between Azerbaijan and Armenia is a rare example of success in the global context.
Axar.az reports that Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, said this in a joint interview with Armen Grigoryan, Secretary of Armenia’s Security Council, to Euronews.
Hajiyev noted that the two countries’ steps toward peace were shaped after the meeting in Brussels:
“A good opportunity arose to meet in Brussels. After that, our leaders decided to move toward peace and put aside existing differences.”
The Azerbaijani official stressed that the parties have already closed the period of conflict and that the region has entered a phase of real peace:
“The joint peace process is a rare success story in a global context full of conflicts. That chapter is closed — real peace exists now.”
Hajiyev added that peace will open new economic opportunities and lead the region into a period of joint development:
“Now Azerbaijan and Armenia are opening a major chapter of economic development in the region, which serves the interests of both peoples.”
He also underscored the strategic importance of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP):
“TRIPP will completely change the transport map of the Eurasian continent.”
