Pope Leo XIV condemns war during Palm Sunday Mass

During his Palm Sunday Mass at St. Peter’s Square on March 29, 2026, Pope Leo XIV strongly condemned world leaders who wage war.

Axar.az reports, citing Vatican News, the Pope told tens of thousands of attendees that neither God nor Jesus can be invoked to justify violence or military aggression.

“Jesus is the King of Peace, who rejects war, whom no one can use to justify war,” said the Pope. “He does not listen to the prayers of those who wage war, but rejects them.

Pope Leo XIV went on to recall the prophet Isaiah’s words: “Even though you make many prayers, I will not listen: your hands are full of blood.”
