Bayramov received newly appointed Ambassador of India

Today, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, received the newly appointed Ambassador of India to the country, Abhay Kumar.

Axar.az reports that during the meeting, the current state of relations between Azerbaijan and India, as well as prospects for their development, were discussed.

The sides noted that the mechanism of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs would be useful not only for cooperation issues but also for discussing matters of disagreement between the two countries.

It was emphasized that historical ties form the foundation of bilateral relations, and satisfaction was expressed over the existence of direct flights, as well as the development of cooperation in tourism and education.

Touching upon energy cooperation, it was noted that India’s ONGC Videsh holds shares in Azerbaijan’s Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) and the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline (BTC), which constitutes one of the key directions of bilateral economic ties.

The meeting also included an expression of concern over the current tensions in the Middle East.

The Indian ambassador conveyed his country’s deep gratitude to Azerbaijan for its support during the evacuation of Indian citizens from Iran.

Minister Bayramov congratulated the ambassador on his new appointment and wished him success in his diplomatic mission.

Ambassador Abhay Kumar expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and emphasized his intention to contribute to the expansion of Azerbaijan–India relations across all areas during his tenure.
