Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Italian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani held a telephone conversation.

Axar.az informs, citing Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry, that during the phone talk, the ministers reviewed the current state and future prospects of the Azerbaijan–Italy strategic partnership.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the intensive nature of high‑level political dialogue. They highlighted the state visit of Italian President Sergio Mattarella to Azerbaijan last autumn, the January meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, and the May visit of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to Baku as clear demonstrations of the strategic character of bilateral relations and the dynamic cooperation based on mutual trust.

The ministers stressed the importance of continuing political dialogue and reciprocal visits, as well as expanding cooperation in trade, energy, transport, industry, investment, education, and other fields. In this context, they noted that the Azerbaijan–Italy Business Forum planned for this autumn will serve as a key platform for deepening economic partnership.

They also underlined the significance of the conference to be organized in September in partnership with The European House – Ambrosetti for advancing Azerbaijan–Italy economic and political dialogue.

Energy cooperation was praised, with particular emphasis on SOCAR's partnership with Italy's Italiana Petroli (IP), including the company's acquisition, as a major dimension of bilateral economic ties. The ministers agreed on the importance of expanding mutually beneficial projects and exploring new opportunities.

The conversation also touched upon the post‑conflict peace agenda in the region, developments in the Middle East, and other regional security issues.
