Vance leads efforts to reach new deal with Iran

US Vice President JD Vance has been personally involved in indirect negotiations with Iran over a possible ceasefire and the resumption of nuclear talks.

Axar.az reports, citing Axios, that Vance has held almost daily conversations with Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Pakistani Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, and other mediators over the past two weeks.

US envoy Steve Witkoff and President Donald Trump's adviser Jared Kushner are also involved in the efforts.

Axios reports that Vance recently sent a letter to Iranian Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei proposing a resumption of direct negotiations. Iranian officials reportedly viewed the letter as a positive step towards restarting talks.

Despite slow progress, mediators say diplomatic efforts are continuing, with discussions underway about a possible technical meeting between US and Iranian officials.
