Bolivian Senate annuals Evo Morales' presidential win

Bolivia’s Senate passed a bill Saturday annulling ousted exiled President Evo Morales’ electoral victory of a fourth term in October.

Axar.az reports citing BBC.

The Senate unanimously approved the bill, “Exceptional and Transitional Regime for holding General Elections,” and passed it onto the Chamber of Deputies, the Senate said in on Twitter.

After weeks of upheaval, Morales resigned under pressure from the military and moved to Mexico, where he was offered political asylum.

Conservative Senator Jeanine Anez proclaimed herself interim president.

But public demonstrations have yet to subside, with mostly rural and indigenous pro-Morales supporters taking to the streets in numerous cites, including the capital of La Paz, since Morales left the country.

Backers of Morales insist his ouster was a coup.
