Stephen Miller, a longtime aide to President Trump and current Homeland Security adviser, is a leading candidate to become the next national security adviser, according to five sources.

Axar.az, citing Axios, reports that Miller's name emerged after Trump removed Mike Waltz from the role and nominated him as UN ambassador.

While Secretary of State Marco Rubio is temporarily filling in, insiders say Miller's strong performance and close working relationship with Rubio on immigration make him a top contender. However, Miller may hesitate to take the role if it distances him from immigration policy, his main focus.

Trump’s decision remains unclear.
