“No one can stage a coup in Armenia. Remember that.” These were the words of Khachatur Sukiasyan, a member of the ruling Civil Contract Party, during an extraordinary session of the Armenian National Assembly on July 8.
Axar.az reports that Sukiasyan made the remarks during a discussion over whether to approve the launch of criminal proceedings against Arthur Sargsyan, a deputy from the opposition “Armenia” bloc.
Sukiasyan emphasized that Armenia's institutions have finally begun to function properly.
“Of course, there is still some bureaucracy creating difficulties. However, a modern economy is gradually taking shape. The economy is growing and becoming digitalized. As a result, this bureaucracy will significantly decrease soon, and Armenia will begin to develop.”
He continued:
“Dear citizens, rest assured that Armenia will continue to grow. It will develop strong relations in the region, and ties with neighboring countries will improve. People will feel secure, enjoy the wealth they earn, and live in prosperity,” Sukiasyan affirmed.
