A Super Moon event will occur today.

Axar.az reports that it will be possible to watch the cosmic event after 22:00 Baku time.

According to information, at 13:09, the Moon will approach the Earth by 357,263 km, making it the minimum distance for 2022, and the visible diameter of the satellite will be 33 minutes and 27 seconds. The full moon event will take place at 22:38.

Note that a Super Moon is an event that occurs when the full moon or new moon coincides with perigee - the moment when the Moon and Earth are closest to each other. This is due to the elliptical orbit of our planet on the Moon. Thanks to this phenomenon, it is possible to see the Moon from the Earth in a larger size than usual. The term Super Moon is of astrological origin and does not have a precise astronomical definition.

The opposite of a supermoon is called a micro moon. Unlike the first, this term is not so widespread.
