Back in 2022, at the Summit of the Caspian Sea Littoral States, I raised the issue of the deterioration of the ecological state of the Caspian Sea. Today, the situation is even worse. The Caspian Sea is rapidly shrinking. The main reason is not climate change.

Axar.az reports that these thoughts were voiced by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during his speech at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.

The head of state noted that joint efforts of the coastal states are needed to prevent an ecological disaster with unpredictable consequences. Azerbaijan is also ready to closely cooperate with the UN in solving this problem.
