September 27 marked as Remembrance Day across Azerbaijan

Today, a one-minute silence was observed across Azerbaijan in memory of all the martyrs who heroically fought in the Patriotic War and sacrificed their lives for the country’s territorial integrity.

Axar.az reports that traffic and pedestrian movement were halted across the country.

At the same time, vehicles sounded their horns, and ships and surface trains sounded their whistles.

It is noted that today marks Remembrance Day for the heroic martyrs who gave their lives in the Patriotic War, which was launched to prevent Armenia’s military provocations against Azerbaijan, halt combat activities, and ensure the safety of civilians.

According to the decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated December 2, 2020, September 27 is annually observed in Azerbaijan as Remembrance Day as a sign of deep respect for soldiers and officers who heroically fought in the Patriotic War and all our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country’s territorial integrity.
