Elmira Suleymanova, the first Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan, has died.

Axar.az reports that he died at the age of 87.

It should be noted that Elmira Teymur gizi Süleymanova was born on July 17, 1937, in Baku. Doctor of Chemical Sciences (1980), professor (1981), individual scholarship holder of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In 2002 to 2019, E. Suleymanova held the position of Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan.

She was awarded the Order of "Glory" and "Honor" for her services in the field of human rights protection by the Decree of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
