Within the framework of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), the ministers of the Central Asian countries signed a joint Declaration on "Partnership on Climate Change, Glaciers and Transboundary Cooperation".

Axar.az reports that the environment ministers of Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Green Climate Fund participated in this important event. At the event, the start of the implementation of the "Glacier to Farm" (G2F) program, which is planned to be financed by the Green Climate Fund and ADB, was discussed. The aim of the program is to support actions aimed at climate resilience to reduce the effects of melting glaciers and ensure water and food security.

Given Azerbaijan's increasing impacts from water scarcity and climate change, the G2F program is of particular importance in the country's national interests. The signed Declaration promotes the exchange of information and experience, the development of early warning systems and the implementation of climate-friendly solutions. This Declaration is considered as an important step towards protecting glaciers and strengthening measures against climate change in the Central and Western Asia region.
