The captain of a Qantas Airlines aircraft operating on the London–Singapore route requested an emergency landing at Heydar Aliyev International Airport.

Axar.az reports the reason for the request was the sudden deterioration in the health condition of one of the passengers on board.

The Airbus A380 aircraft successfully landed at 07:55 Baku time. The passenger was immediately provided with medical assistance on site. Currently, the passenger’s condition is undergoing the necessary medical evaluation and monitoring.

It should be noted that the Airbus A380 is recognized as the largest passenger aircraft in global aviation. This double-deck, four-engine aircraft is capable of carrying hundreds of passengers and can only land at international airports that meet specific technical standards.

Heydar Aliyev International Airport is fully equipped with modern ground handling systems, wide runways, and high-level service infrastructure to accommodate A380-type aircraft. In this regard, Baku Airport is one of the few airports in the region with full technical and operational readiness to receive such large aircraft.
