Regular inspections are being carried out along the southern borders of the country (at 30 points), including in Nakhchivan, to measure the radiation background using special devices.
Axar.az reports that the Ministries of Emergency Situations, Ecology and Natural Resources, Digital Development, and Transport have jointly stated on this.
According to the information, no cases of an increase in the natural radiation background in the environment have been recorded during the inspections so far.
"To ensure continuous monitoring of the radiation situation in the country, including in cross-border regions, automated stations of the Environmental Monitoring Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources operate in Astara, Beylagan, Zangilan, Sadarak, and other border regions. Daily observations on the radiation background are being conducted through automated stations. Based on the results of the current observations, no facts of radioactive contamination in the air have been recorded," the information noted.
It was reported that the Nuclear Research Department of the Innovation and Digital Development Agency is conducting radiological and radioecological studies in the southern border regions of Azerbaijan (Astara, Lankaran, Masalli, Jalilabad, Bilasuvar). Taking into account the safety standards and recommendation documents of the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Nuclear Research Department of IRIA conducted measurements and analyses of the following radiological parameters in air, soil, and river water samples in the southern border regions of our country.
According to the results, no enriched values of uranium isotopes, as well as no artificial radionuclides, were detected in air, soil, rain and river water samples, air alpha and beta activity values were observed within the normal background, gamma and neutron radiation in autogamma and stationary dosimetric measurements were at background levels, and no dangerous values were recorded.
