On June 27, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev accepted the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to our country, Mujtaba Demirchilu.

The head of state recalled with satisfaction his telephone conversation with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran yesterday and the discussions held during Masoud Pezeshkian's visit to Azerbaijan, noting that this visit opened a new page in the development of relations between the two countries as a whole.
President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that the statements and opinions voiced by Masoud Pezeshkian during his visit to our country were very positively received by the Azerbaijani public.
The head of state, noting that Azerbaijan was one of the first countries to express its position on the conflict between Iran and Israel, emphasized that he condemned this tension and once again expressed his condolences for the Iranian citizens who died during the conflict. President Ilham Aliyev, who said that some circles and media representatives were spreading information based on rumors and lies in order to harm Azerbaijani-Iranian relations regarding this tension between Iran and Israel, stated that all this was complete nonsense.
Mujtaba Demirchilu emphasized that the supreme leaders of the Islamic Republic of Iran also paid special attention to the development of relations with Azerbaijan.
The ambassador noted that the relations between Azerbaijan and Iran are based on friendship, neighborliness and brotherhood. He emphasized that Azerbaijan's principled and firm position regarding the conflict between Iran and Israel is highly appreciated in Iran and expressed his gratitude for this. The ambassador noted that the Iranian side is also fully convinced that the territory of Azerbaijan can never be used against Iran, and the Azerbaijani state will never allow this.
The diplomat also expressed his gratitude for the conditions created for the passage of foreign and Iranian citizens to our country.
During the meeting, a broad exchange of views was held on the prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran in the political, economic, trade, cultural, humanitarian and other fields. The development of the North-South transport corridor, the construction of a road bridge connecting the Aghband and Kalale settlements over the Araz River, and the development of the Araz transport corridor in general were discussed.
