Yesterday, 9 apartments were raided in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg.

Axar.az reports that on June 27, at around 5 am, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) raided 9 apartments, took certain belongings from the houses, and tortured the citizens.

As a result, three Azerbaijani brothers, Ziyeddin and Huseyn Safarov, and their cousin, Kamal Safarov, were killed.

The bodies are expected to be sent to Baku on Monday.

According to the source, the FSB is threatening the Azerbaijanis living there, saying, "An investigation is underway; do not give any information."

"Work has begun on sending the bodies to Azerbaijan. It is likely that tomorrow, June 29, the bodies will be handed over to their families, and on the first day, the bodies of the deceased will be sent to Baku. The younger of the murdered Safarov brothers, Huseyn, is an Azerbaijani citizen, and his older brother, Ziyeddin, is a Russian citizen. In total, 9 apartments were raided. Women were also tortured during the raid," the source said.

All of the individuals are from the village of Marzili in Aghdam

The cause of the incident is linked to a murder that occurred 24 years ago.

According to the source, all of these individuals are from the village of Marzili in Aghdam. A murder occurred in their cafe at that time. After 24 years, they have just raided their houses, tortured them, and demanded that they confess to the murder. The brothers were tortured because they did not take responsibility for the crime. Currently, 9 people are being held by the police.

Three of the injured are in a trauma hospital.

It should be noted that, according to the information we have received, the person killed in the same cafe in 2001 was also an Azerbaijani from the Aghdam region.

The raid and murder are pressure on the Azerbaijani diaspora

"The murder of the brothers Ziyeddin and Huseyn Safarov, the arrest of people is pressure on the Azerbaijani diaspora."

These thoughts were expressed by Emin Hasanli, editor-in-chief of the "Harbi And" newspaper and a close friend of the Safarov brothers, in an interview with Telegraf, while commenting on the raid and murder of houses where Azerbaijanis lived in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg.

He said that the brothers Ziyeddin and Huseyn Safarov have been living in Russia for nearly 35 years and are Russian citizens:

"They were also active members of the Azerbaijani diaspora. They actively supported our country during the Patriotic War. They tried to convey our true voice to Russia. In addition, they helped people who left our country for Russia find jobs. They were all educated, cultured people. Bakir Safarov, who is currently in prison, was a Russian language teacher. Ziyeddin is 55 years old, and Huseyn is 60. They were born in the village of Marzili, Aghdam."

Emin Hasanli said that he learned about the raid on their homes yesterday: "They raided their homes without any warning. They confiscated their phones. Although Bakir demanded documents from those forces, they ignored it. This is not an attack on the family, but on the Azerbaijani diaspora."

The number of those arrested is close to 70

Emin Hasanli said that according to some figures, the number of those arrested is more than 70: "Russian media writes that Huseyn and Ziyaddin allegedly had heart disease. This is completely false. Later, they report that there was allegedly a conflict between the Azerbaijani diaspora, which is also false."

Emin Hasanli noted that one of the murdered brothers ran a cafe, while the other worked as a taxi driver: "Ziyaddin and Huseyn each had 2 sons. Ziyaddin's son is a lawyer. He is currently interested in this business. The others also have higher education."

According to the editor-in-chief, work is currently underway to hand over the bodies and bring them to Azerbaijan: "Our state and diaspora are working in this direction."

Another Azerbaijani injured during a raid on Azerbaijani homes in Yekaterinburg, Russia, has died.

The deceased is Kamal Safarov, the cousin of Ziyaddin and Huseyn Safarov, who were killed during the same raid.

Kamal Safarov was detained yesterday by the Federal Security Service (FSB). Reports indicate that he was tortured and beaten to death.

It should be noted that on the morning of June 27, the FSB raided Azerbaijani homes in Yekaterinburg and beat Ziyaddin and Huseyn Safarov to death.

They were brothers of the well-known journalist and literary scholar Seyfaddin Huseynli.

It has been clarified that reports claiming five deaths are not accurate.

The number of Azerbaijanis killed during the operation carried out by Federal Security Service (FSB) officers in Yekaterinburg, Russia, is two.
