Sputnik Azerbaijan editor’s apartment searched

A search was carried out at the apartment of Igor Kartavykh, editor of "Sputnik Azerbaijan."

Axar.az reports that computer equipment was confiscated during the search.

It should be noted that Azerbaijan’s security forces conducted an operation at the "Sputnik Azerbaijan" office yesterday. During the raid, the head of the editorial team, Igor Kartavykh, and chief editor Yevgeny Belousov were detained. They are reported to be employees of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) assigned to the agency.

In total, seven people were detained during the Ministry of Internal Affairs' operation at the Baku branch of the "Rossiya Segodnya" Information Agency ("Sputnik Azerbaijan").

A criminal case has been initiated under the articles of the Criminal Code related to fraud, illegal entrepreneurship, and legalization of property obtained by criminal means, and two individuals have been arrested, and five others have been held criminally liable.
