The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) will allocate €5.55 million to the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) under the solidarity payment program for clubs that do not participate in the league phases of European competitions in the 2025/2026 season.
Axar.az reports that the funds will ultimately be distributed equally among top-division clubs that miss out on the league phases of the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League.
The payment consists of two parts: 70 percent is determined by the country’s position in the UEFA coefficient ranking (Azerbaijan is 26th – ed.), while the remaining 30 percent is proportional to the income generated by clubs from European competitions, which represents the highest figure among clubs representing that national association.
Among associations outside the top five, the Netherlands will receive the largest amount — €6.25 million. The top five countries (England, Spain, Italy, Germany, and France) will each receive €10 million.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan is represented in European competitions this season by Agdam-based Qarabag. After six rounds of the Champions League, Qarabag sits 22nd in the standings. The team will play its next match on January 21 in Baku against Germany’s Eintracht Frankfurt.
