Anthropic is considering launching a new artificial intelligence model to counter OpenAI’s growing momentum.

Axar.az reports, citing Reuters, that the potential release comes as OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra, launched earlier this month, gains traction among business users. Data from corporate spending platform Ramp shows that Astra accounts for around 13% of tracked enterprise AI spending, compared with 8% for Anthropic’s Claude Fable.

Anthropic is evaluating the safety of its next model while weighing the costs of releasing new technology against the need to improve profitability. The company’s CEO, Dario Amodei, recently called for a slowdown in AI development to address safety concerns.

Anthropic’s annualized revenue run rate exceeded $65 billion by the end of July, up from approximately $9 billion at the end of 2025.

The company is also considering delaying its initial public offering until after the November U.S. midterm elections, according to two sources. Anthropic has not commented on the reports.
