The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva went to the area where the massacre was committed with a group of residents who managed to survive the Khojaly genocide.

Axar.az reports that this is the first visit of the ombudsman to that area after Khojaly was liberated from occupation.

He listened to the opinions of witnesses regarding the misfortunes that Armenian bandits inflicted on Azerbaijanis on the night of February 25-26, 1992. At the same time, new facts about the genocide were recorded.

S. Aliyeva appealed to the world community from the place where the massacre was committed. The ombudsman conveyed to the public the misfortunes of Khojaly residents in those areas. He asked international organizations to support bringing the perpetrators of the Khojaly genocide to justice.

It should be noted that on the night of February 25-26, 1992, the city of Khojaly was occupied by the Armenian armed forces with the participation of the 366th motorized rifle regiment of the former Soviet troops, genocide was committed against the local population, and the city was razed to the ground.

As a result of the genocide, 613 residents of Khojaly, including 63 children, 106 women, and 70 elderly people, were brutally murdered, 8 families were destroyed, 25 children lost both parents, and 130 children lost one of their parents. 487 people, including 76 children, were seriously injured.

56 of the murdered people were killed with special cruelty, burned alive, scalped, and subjected to other terrible tortures.

At the same time, the fate of 150 people, including 68 women and 26 children, remains unknown out of 1275 residents who were taken hostage at that time.
