The interests of the United States in the region are related to the removal of Russia from the region and not allowing Iran to strengthen its position there, which coincides with the interests of Turkiye.
Axar.az reports that Armenian political scientist Sergei Melkonyan said these words in his statement to the Armenian media.
"The US can provide security guarantees to Armenia, but only with words. American experts also explain that the United States cannot support Armenia against Washington's ally Turkiye," he said.
According to him, the main partner of the West in the South Caucasus is Turkiye:
"At the same time, if the foreign policy of Turkiye and Azerbaijan is aimed at removing Armenians from the region, the United States does not pursue such goals, for them, it is of secondary importance."
He believes that Azerbaijan and Turkiye will immediately try to fill a security gap due to Russia's failure to fully fulfil its obligations, as well as its failure to receive guarantees from the West:
"The policy of the Armenian authorities aims to turn to the West, leave the CSTO and EU and integrate into the EU structures, but not only Armenia but all the regional states are economically connected with Russia. Therefore, to turn to the West, it is necessary to make preparations and get economic guarantees. If not, there will be risks of economic collapse."
