The Ahmadbeyli-Fuzuli-Shusha road project, nominated for the 2024 Europe and Central Asia Regional Excellence Awards, was recognized by the International Road Federation ("IRF Global") in the "Innovative Construction Methodology" category.

It is noted that the winner of this prestigious award was selected by an independent international jury comprised of experts in the roads and transportation sector, judges, and volunteers from "IRF Global."

By winning this award, the State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads has joined an elite group of organizations recognized for excellence, innovation, and positive impact on society.

At the award ceremony held on September 26 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, Emin Mammadov, head of the Foreign Investment Department of the Agency’s Investment Department, represented the agency.

In his speech, Mammadov provided extensive information about Azerbaijan's achievements in road infrastructure and significant ongoing and completed road projects. He emphasized that the modernization of the road infrastructure is one of the key priorities of President Ilham Aliyev.

During the award ceremony, it was noted that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change will take place in Azerbaijan this year, and the country is actively preparing to host COP29. Preparations are ongoing at the State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads, as in all relevant institutions.

The event also highlighted the achievements of the Azerbaijani Army during the 44-day Patriotic War in 2020, which liberated over 300 towns and villages from nearly 30 years of occupation. It was mentioned that under the "State Program for the Great Return to the Territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan Liberated from Occupation," as well as the presidential decrees, 45 road construction projects are being implemented in the Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur economic regions, with a total length of 3,094.3 km.

As part of the program, 7 road projects with a total length of 254.2 km have already been successfully completed.

It was reported that in the territory of the Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur economic regions, road infrastructure projects currently underway include 45 vehicle tunnels with a total length of 69.1 km, and over 463 bridges, viaducts, and road overpasses totaling nearly 13.4 km.

One of the key infrastructure projects, the 81.7 km long Ahmadbeyli-Fuzuli-Shusha road, which won in the Innovative Construction Methodology category, also includes the construction of 11 bridges, 7 tunnels, and 9 viaducts. It was noted that during the construction of the viaducts, concrete works were carried out using the horizontal sliding method for formwork.
