This year, a total of 5,231 fires have occurred in Turkiye, 2,992 of which started outside forests.

Axar.az reports that this was announced by Turkish media.

“These figures show that 57% of the fires started in non-forest areas. Most of these fires, which occurred in agricultural lands, bushy areas, roadsides, vacant lands, and rural areas, quickly spread to forests due to wind and high temperatures.

As a result, 64,500 hectares of our land have been severely damaged,” the report stated.
