The Washington authorities have filed a lawsuit against US President Donald Trump, the Pentagon, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and others, demanding that the deployment of the National Guard in the capital be declared illegal.

Axar.az reports citing RIA Novosti.

"The defendants acted in violation of the Constitution and federal law by deploying National Guard troops to the District of Columbia to carry out law enforcement measures without the consent of the mayor," the lawsuit says.

It should be noted that earlier, Trump transferred some of the powers of Washington's law enforcement agencies to the federal government, declaring that crime in the city was at an unprecedented level. The National Guard was deployed in several places as part of a temporary state of emergency.
