Syrian authorities have arrested members of a Hezbollah cell in western Damascus, the Ministry of Interior announced on Thursday.
Axar.az reports, citing Al Arabiya, the cell had been operating in the Syrian capital’s countryside towns of Saasaa and Kanaker, according to Brigadier General Ahmed al-Dalati, Commander of Internal Security.
Initial investigations found that the cell’s members had trained in camps inside Lebanon and were planning operations in Syria aimed at undermining the security and stability of its citizens.
During the operation, security forces seized rocket launchers, 19 ‘Grad’ rockets, anti-armor missiles, as well as individual weapons and large quantities of ammunition.
The arrest was carried out in cooperation with the General Intelligence Service, “following close monitoring and extensive field work,” he said in his statement posted on X.
“The cell’s involvement in planning attacks that threatened the country’s security and stability was proven,” according to the Ministry of Interior.
