Merkel: COVID-19 indirectly triggered Ukraine conflict

The COVID-19 pandemic was an indirect cause of the outbreak of the military conflict in Ukraine.

Axar.az reports that this was said by former German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

She said that the impossibility of direct negotiations between world leaders during the coronavirus pandemic has complicated the search for a compromise on the Ukrainian issue:

“If you cannot meet and discuss differences face to face, then it is impossible to find new compromises.”

It should be noted that Merkel also said that Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia indirectly caused the outbreak of the Ukrainian conflict.
