US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, are set to join the Gaza peace talks in Egypt between Israeli and Hamas negotiators.
Axar.az reports, citing BBC, that the talks, now in their second day, have yet to yield progress, with key disputes over Israeli withdrawal maps and guarantees that fighting won’t resume.
Mediators, including Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani and the head of Turkish intelligence, are working to bridge differences.
Trump expressed optimism, calling the plan a “historic opportunity” for Middle East peace. The discussions also focus on a permanent ceasefire, hostage-prisoner exchanges, aid delivery, and post-war governance in Gaza.
