Turkiye and Russia discuss eight new nuclear reactors

Turkiye is discussing the construction of eight nuclear reactors with Russia in the Black Sea city of Sinop and in Thrace.

Axar.az reports that Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayrakdar announced this in an interview with the Rossiya-24 television channel.

The minister recalled that the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) is being built jointly with the Russian state corporation Rosatom, and Turkiye plans to commission the first of the station's four reactors in 2026.

"In addition, we need eight more reactors in Sinop and Thrace. We are currently negotiating these projects," Bayrakdar noted.
