Turkiye is buying 24 Typhoon (Eurofighter) fighters from Qatar and 10 from Oman. Negotiations on the issue have already reached the final stage.
Axar.az reports that this was stated by Melik Yigitel, the representative of Turkish Media in Ankara, in a statement to the newspaper "Aksham".
He said that the processes related to the purchases of “Typhoons” from Qatar and Oman were finalized as follows:
“First, the legal situation regarding the sale of “Typhoons” to a second country was agreed upon with the producing countries - Great Britain, Germany, France, and Spain.
After the obstacles were removed, contacts were established with Oman and Qatar. When it was determined that they had “Typhoons” in stock to be sold to a second country, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan took an important step that unlocked the issue. During his Gulf tour, Erdogan personally raised and finalized this issue during a meeting with the Emir of Qatar and the Sultan of Oman.
Currently, the process is being managed by the Turkish Foreign and National Defense Ministers. The initial purchase of 24 Eurofighter aircraft from Qatar and 10 from Oman has reached the final stage. The delivery of the fighters to Turkey will take place within a few weeks.”
