Former MP faces charges for alleged Trump message claim

Tehran’s Prosecutor has filed charges against former MP Mostafa Kavakebian after he claimed that the Iranian President had sent a message to Donald Trump through Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Axar.az, citing Rokna, reports that the Foreign Ministry rejected the claim, stating that the President’s letter to the Crown Prince was only about Hajj and contained no discussion of negotiations.

Kavakebian has recently made several false statements, leading to a judicial case and a preliminary sentence of 14 months in prison, suspended for four years.

He has also been banned from media activities for two years, though the ruling is not yet final.
