The Armenian Church of St. Sarkis, located in the Sur district of Diyarbakir province, is being renovated.
Axar.az reports that renovation work on the church, which is said to have a history of 500 years, began in 2024.
This is the second Armenian church to be renovated in Diyarbakir. The first was St. Kirakos. The renovation project for the Church of St. Sarkis has been approved by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The project includes landscaping works, as well as the construction of workshops, conference rooms, and an exhibition hall.
The renovation of the church will cost 60 million liras, which is approximately 1.4 million dollars.
