Ukraine and US agree on the core terms of peace deal

U.S. and Ukrainian officials say Kyiv has agreed to the core terms of a Trump-brokered peace deal to halt Russia’s nearly four-year war. Ukrainian National Security Adviser Rustem Umerov said a common understanding was reached in Geneva and that President Zelenskyy may visit Washington in late November to finalize the agreement.

Axar.az reports that in Abu Dhabi, U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll held intensive talks with Russian representatives while also coordinating with the Ukrainian delegation. U.S. officials say negotiations are progressing quickly, though Russia has not yet publicly reacted.

The updated peace plan, based on a revised U.S. 28-point proposal, still needs European support. NATO members have called the plan a “basis” needing more work. Trump aims for a deal by Thanksgiving, though U.S. officials say the deadline is flexible.

Russian advances in eastern Ukraine, especially near Pokrovsk, have influenced the urgency of the talks, with U.S. officials believing Moscow expects to take Donetsk either diplomatically or militarily.
