Defendants in Crimean Bridge case sentenced to life in prison

The Russian Southern District Military Court has sentenced eight defendants in the 2022 Crimean Bridge terror attack case to life imprisonment.

Axar.az informs, citing TASS, “The court has ruled to find the defendants guilty and impose a sentence of life imprisonment,” the judge announced, adding that they will spend the first years in a high-security prison.

The court also ordered the eight defendants to pay 7 billion rubles in damages to the companies and individuals affected by the attack.

The defendants are Artyom Azatyan, Georgy Azatyan, Oleg Antipov, Aleksandr Bylin, Vladimir Zloba, Dmitry Tyazhelykh, Roman Solomko, and Artur Terchanyan.

They were charged under Part 3 of Article 205 of the Russian Criminal Code (terrorist act) and Part 4 of Article 222.1 (illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation, shipment, or carrying of explosives or explosive devices).
In addition, Solomko and Terchanyan were charged under Part 3 of Article 226.1 (smuggling of explosive devices).
