Putin says meeting with Witkoff, Kushner was ‘very useful’

Russian President Vladimir Putin said the recent meeting in the Kremlin with American envoys Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner was necessary and productive, noting that it lasted five hours.

Axar.az informs, citing TASS, “It was necessary,” he told India Today. “It was very useful.”

The lengthy duration was due to the complexity of the proposed U.S. peace plan for Ukraine. Each point was examined in detail, and Russia did not agree with all of them, Putin said.

Moscow had not seen any new initiatives prior to the meeting, which meant they had to go through every point. “It was a very concrete discussion,” he added.

Putin also stressed that there were issues where consensus could not be reached. “There were points we discussed, but it’s complicated work. In some cases, we could discuss it, but we cannot agree on it. That’s how the conversation went,” he said.

The original 28 points of the U.S. peace plan remain relevant and continue to be discussed, though Washington proposed splitting them into four separate “packages.” “They just divided these 28—or 27—points into four packages and proposed we discuss them. But essentially, these are the same points,” Putin said.

On the broader conflict, Putin stated that Russia will liberate Donbass and Novorossiya either by military means or other means. “It all comes down to this. Either we will liberate these territories by armed force, or Ukrainian troops will leave these territories and stop fighting there,” he emphasized.

He added that Europeans should actively participate in efforts to resolve the Ukrainian conflict rather than obstruct them.
