Putin: Russia has no plans to return to G8

Russia does not plan to return to the Group of Eight (G8), which reverted to the G7 in 2014.

Axar.az informs Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview with India Today.

“No,” the Russian leader replied when asked about it. He emphasized that he had almost stopped attending G8 summits even before the Ukraine crisis in 2014.

Putin also said that the issue was not discussed during his Kremlin meeting with U.S. envoys Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner. He added that the G7’s share of the global economy is shrinking year by year, “like a piece of shagreen leather.”
