A Russian An-22 military transport aircraft has crashed in the Ivanovo region.

Axar.az reports that the information was released by Russian media.

According to the report, there were 7 crew members on board.

No information was initially available about casualties.

As a result of the crash, all 7 people on the aircraft — five crew members and two passengers — were killed.

A commission from the Russian Aerospace Forces has been dispatched to the crash site.

It should be noted that the An-22 “Antei” was the last aircraft of its type in service with the Russian Armed Forces. These aircraft had been in use since 1969.

Military investigative authorities have opened a criminal case regarding the plane crash.

It was reported that the case was opened on the grounds of violations of pre-flight preparation rules.
