Tokayev: Iran archives note Kazakh valor

The Iranian archives contain records of the Kazakh Khanate and the Kazakh people as a brave, warlike people.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at a briefing in Astana dedicated to the results of negotiations with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

“Iran is our reliable partner in the Middle East. The historical roots, traditions, and culture of the two brotherly peoples are close to each other. I have several historical facts in my hands. For example, the Great Silk Road passed through the territories of present-day Kazakhstan and Iran. The Great Silk Road influenced the spread of technology and religion, as well as the deepening of cultural and spiritual ties,” he said.

The head of state noted that the founder of the Safavid State, Shah Ismail Khatai, was the first to establish contact with the Kazakh Khan Kerey:

“There are writings in the Iranian archives about the Kazakh Khanate and the valor of the Kazakh people. There were close relations between Touke Khan and Shah Sultan Hussein. According to historical sources, representatives of both countries met in Moscow, and the Iranian envoy visited the Kazakh steppes. Abilkhayir Khan sent an envoy to Nader Shah (the ruler of the Afshar state) and expressed his intention to develop relations.”
