There is an opportunity for real peace in Ukraine.

Axar.az reports that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said this at a joint press conference with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky.

He highly appreciated Donald Trump's efforts to achieve peace:

"Without the US president, the positive dynamics observed during the negotiations in Berlin would not have happened."

Merz noted that he welcomed the greatest diplomatic efforts since the war began:

"We know the price of war and the price of peace."

The Chancellor expressed hope that further progress would be achieved during dinner with European leaders this evening, noting that the issue of territorial concessions remains a key topic.

According to him, the failure to transfer Russian assets to Ukraine will harm the European Union for many years:

"If we cannot achieve this, the EU's ability to act will be seriously weakened for many years."

It should be noted that negotiations between the US and Ukraine continued today in Berlin.
