Iran’s UN envoy in Geneva requests asylum amid protests

Amid rising political protests in Iran, a senior Iranian diplomat working at the UN’s European headquarters in Geneva has resigned and requested asylum in Switzerland.

Axar.az reports, citing Iran International and diplomatic sources.

According to the information, Alireza Jeyrani Hökmbabad served as Iran’s top diplomat at the UN’s European headquarters and as deputy permanent representative in several international organizations.

He has applied for asylum in Switzerland together with his family.
